About the Thompsons
The proud owner of The Black Bass Hotel, area businessman Jack Thompson has been an integral part of the local community for over 40 years. In 1969, his entrepreneurial spirit was sparked in the automotive industry when he opened one of the first Toyota dealerships in the country. Since then, the Thompson family has added BMW, Lexus, Maserati and Alfa Romeo, as well as Detail, Rent A Car and Collision Centers.
Before lovingly restoring The Black Bass to its original splendor, the Thompson family had been longtime admirers and patrons of the historic Hotel. They personally oversaw its complete renovation and redesign, which included retaining as much of the original artwork as possible.
The renovation also included the historic Lumberville General Store, located across the street. In addition to serving as a deli, coffeehouse and local meeting place, the General Store houses a bakery that also services the Hotel.
The Thompsons have generously supported the local community and revived The Bass, a centuries-old inn which offers fine dining and charming hospitality to thousands of guests. To learn more about the Thompson family and its automotive business, visit The Thompson Organization website.
